PREPARATION TO BECOME A GOOD LAW ENFORCER IN THE FUTURE

Here are some important
advice and reminders that you must consider to become a good law enforcer in
the future.
As a criminology student and soon to become to be a policeman,
discipline is the most important characteristic that you should have because
this kind of field requires good sense of time and good conduct. Even you are
still a student now, you should practice to obey the rules in your school and
the law of the society. This field need you to be physically and mentally fit
in order for you to survive and perform well.
To become a police officer in
the Philippines, you can take the PNPA entrance exam then be a cadet in the
academy. In this academy, you can learn many things about your future job and
there are many training to test your capabilities and to become better. If you
complete the cadetship program/training course, you will graduate as a police
officer with a rank of an inspector.
If
you're a College Graduate/Bachelors Degree holder, then take the PNP Entrance
Examination (NAPOLCOM Entrance Exam). When you passed the exam, you are
qualified for the appointment to the rank of a Police Officer 1 (PO1) as
prescribed by Section 30 in RA 6975, amended by RA 8551.

General Qualification for
Appointment:
Ø
A
citizen of the Philippines;
Ø
A
person of good moral conduct;
Ø
Must
have passed the psychiatric/psychological, drug and physical test to be
admitted by the PNP or by any NAPOLCOM accredited government hospital for the
purpose of determining physical and mental health;
Ø
Must
process a formal baccalaureate degree from a recognized institution of
learning;
Ø
Must
not have been dishonorably discharged from military employment or dismissed for
cause from any civilian position in the government;
Ø
Must
not have convicted by final judgement of an offense of crime involving moral
turpitude;
Ø
Must
be at least one meter and sixty-two centimeters (1.62m.) in height for male and
one meter and fifty-seven centimeters (1.57) for female;
Ø
Must
weigh not more or less than five kilograms (5kgs.) from the standard weight
corresponding to his or her height, age, and sex; and
Ø
For a
new applicant, must not be less than twenty-one (21) nor more than thirty (30)
years of age
Eligibility Requirements:
An appointee must process the appropriate eligibility acquired from any
of the following examinations:
(a) Republic Act (Bar and
Board Exam),
(b) PNP Entrance Examination,
(c) Republic Act 6506 (Licensure
Examination for Criminology Graduates),
(d) Presidential Decree 907
(Granting Civil Service Eligibility to College Honor Graduate)
(e) Civil Service Commission
(CSC) Second Level Eligibility (PO1/Police Officer).
The applicant should undergo
and passed the following Screening Procedure:
a.Preliminary Interview
b. Physical Agility Test
c. Psychological and/or Neuro
Psychiatric Test
d. Character and Background
Investigation
e. Physical and Mental
Examination
f. Final Interview
g. Probationary- period of at
least twelve (12) months.
It
is not easy to become a Law Enforcer, there are many tests, exams, training,
challenges and etc. that you will encounter and should surpassed. You must have
the dedication to serve your country in order for you to take the risks and go
into this kind of job. For you to be prepare in your chosen career, you should
start your preparation early to be ready in the future. Exert an effort to know
more about your future job so that you will not be surprised when you are in
the position. Do not carried away to any temptation and remember that God is
always watching whatever you do and will about to do. Ask for his guidance and
trust that he has plan for you.
